Reach Stacker & Side Loader Operator – Port Logistics

About the role

Thales is seeking a skilled Reach Stacker & Side Loader Operator to join its Explosive Ordnance Services team at the Point Wilson depot. You will operate specialised heavy machinery to load, unload, transport and stack containers and cargo safely across the port and container yard.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Reach Stackers, Side Loaders, forklifts and related container‑handling equipment.
• Load containers and cargo onto trucks and coordinate safe movements throughout the yard.
• Manage container stacking and storage in busy operational areas.
• Support handling of hazardous or specialised cargo.
• Conduct pre‑start equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Assist with stock movements, inventory activities and operational documentation.
• Follow strict safety procedures, PPE requirements and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with transport drivers, logistics teams and depot personnel to coordinate daily operations.
• Contribute to housekeeping, safety initiatives and site readiness.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating Reach Stackers and/or Side Loaders.
• Experience working around container movements and transport operations.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
• Previous experience in a Defence or Port environment is highly regarded.
