Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner

About the role

Calvary Mater Newcastle is recruiting a Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner / Transitional Nurse Practitioner for its Department of Radiation Oncology. This is a fixed-term full-time position in which the nurse practitioner delivers advanced, evidence-based care within an autonomous and collaborative model of practice.

Key responsibilities

• Advanced assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, referral and treatment planning for patients receiving radiation therapy and related cancer care.
• Clinical leadership, education, service development, quality improvement and research activities.
• Optimising outcomes for patients receiving radiation therapy and cancer care services.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse authorised by the AHPRA to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, or evidence of completing an NMBA-approved master's-level nurse practitioner program (or a substantially equivalent program).
• Extensive experience in oncology nursing across varied clinical settings, with advanced skills in assessment, triage, intervention, promotion, prevention and early intervention.
• Ability to use culturally appropriate case management principles and to generate and use research and evidence-based outcome measures.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of and leader within a multidisciplinary team.
• Unlimited working rights in Australia, successful pre-employment checks (references, work rights, criminal history, WWCC) and proof of required immunisations.

What we offer

• Nurse Practitioner Year 1 pay of $79.81, thereafter $85.45 per hour; Transitional Nurse Practitioner pay of $75.35 in Year 1 and $76.86 in Year 2, depending on qualifications.
