Senior Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Small Animal Surgeon

About the role

The Brunker Road Veterinary Centre, described as Newcastle's leading veterinary hospital, is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join its team of veterinarians and support staff. The role suits someone who enjoys a varied caseload, is committed to high-level patient care and has excellent communication skills. Applicants should have at least ANZCVS membership in Small Animal Surgery or equivalent, with further advanced surgical training preferable.

Key responsibilities

• Manage referral and primary opinion surgical cases, including fracture repairs, joint surgery, TPLOs, thoracic and abdominal surgery and oncological reconstructions
• Perform diagnostic imaging such as endoscopy, radiology, CT and arthroscopy
• Manage neurology cases (surgical and medical), including spinal surgery (preferred but not essential), myelography and CSF taps
• Assist other veterinary associates with their surgical cases and help them progress their surgical skills

Required profile

• Minimum of ANZCVS membership in Small Animal Surgery or equivalent
• Further advanced surgical training is preferable
• Motivated surgeons wishing to expand their surgical skill set are encouraged to apply
