Quantity Surveyor - Eastern Freeway Project

About the role

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Eastern Freeway - Burke to Tram Alliance project in Melbourne. The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, traffic management technology and Melbourne's first dedicated busway; the alliance's scope includes a new interchange, road and bridge upgrades, smart traffic management upgrades and noise protection. The role offers career prospects with a privately owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with procurement of subcontractors, including preparing, issuing, adjudicating, recommending and awarding subcontract and supply agreements with input from the engineering and construction teams.
• Prepare and submit progress claims and ensure timely payment.
• Manage subcontract interim payment claims and final accounts.
• Process claims for variations and additional entitlements to time and money, and prepare, submit and agree contractual claims.
• Manage and take part in preparing, submitting and agreeing variations.
• Advise the project management team on contractual issues and initiate correspondence.
• Prepare, review and submit reports to prescribed timescales, including equipment and cost reports.
• Review change management.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commercial Law or Construction Management.
• Previous experience in a similar role with major construction contracting companies.
• Ability to measure highly regarded.
• Results-driven and collaborative approach.

• High level of technical and negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
