Quality Coordinator

About the role

The Quality Coordinator will oversee quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations across Austin Engineering's Perth operations. This hands‑on position involves practical work on the workshop floor, focusing on welding and fabrication quality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing, implementing and monitoring the national quality management system aligned with ISO 9001 and industry standards.
• Support internal audits, supplier assessments and third‑party inspections.
• Collaborate with regional teams to standardise quality practices.
• Analyse quality data and prepare performance reports.
• Maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection registers and related documentation.
• Oversee welding inspections, ensuring compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications, welder qualifications and client requirements.
• Inspect welding activities against codes such as AS1554.1‑5, ISO 9001, ISO 9606, ISO 31000 and client specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum Certificate III in Fabrication (Certificate IV preferred).
• Weld Australia Welding Supervisor certification (AS2214 or AS1796) – desirable.
• WTIA IWI Certificate – desirable.
• Sound knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications.
• Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 9606 and ISO 31000.
• At least 2 years’ experience in heavy steel fabrication.
• Experience with mining attachments (buckets, blades, trays) – desirable.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
