Purchasing Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join Babcock’s high‑performing procurement team in Henderson, WA. The role offers a permanent full‑time position supporting critical national capability projects through operational procurement and contract management activities.

Key responsibilities

• Execute day‑to‑day purchasing transactions using the ERP system.
• Support sourcing plans, market research, supplier analysis and preparation of procurement documentation.
• Assist in running sourcing exercises (RFQ, RFI, RFT) and negotiating contracts.
• Maintain accurate reporting, contract status tracking and ensure compliance with Babcock’s procurement standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, quality, commercial and trade‑control teams to resolve supplier queries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, templates and processes.

Required profile

• Australian citizen with Defence Security Clearance (or ability to obtain).
• Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Previous procurement experience in project‑based or complex operational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to run sourcing exercises, negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for purchasing transactions.
• Experience with RFQ, RFI and RFT processes.
• Knowledge of Category Management frameworks.
• Familiarity with Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Supplier Performance Management (SPM).
• Contract formation, negotiation and lifecycle management, including risk identification and mitigation.
