Purchasing Officer

About the role

Northern Star, an ASX 50 gold miner, is looking for a Purchasing Officer to join its KCGM Operations on a 14‑month fixed‑term residential contract. The role supports site teams by managing the procure‑to‑pay process, ordering and expediting goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure site purchase requisitions are accurate and comply with company purchasing policy.
• Convert requisitions into formal purchase orders and issue them to suppliers.
• Manage supplier confirmations and proactively expedite orders to meet due dates.
• Monitor supplier performance regarding pricing, supply reliability, and delivery timing.
• Review expediting, receipting and returns to ensure timely follow‑up.
• Negotiate purchasing arrangements with suppliers.
• Ensure purchase orders adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Review and recommend improvements to purchasing policies and procedures.
• Record and report savings achieved through purchasing arrangements.
• Assist the site with issues related to requisitions and purchase orders.
• Support the Finance team with purchase order and invoice queries.
• Maintain and optimise internal supplier and customer relationships.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in purchasing, buying or accounts payable.
• Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory management and ERP systems (Pronto preferred).
• Good data‑analysis skills with intermediate MS Excel proficiency.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to process data efficiently.
• Well‑developed interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.
