Purchasing Officer – High‑Volume Procurement Role

About the role

Join a leading Australian‑owned engineering business as a Purchasing Officer, reporting to the National Procurement Manager. You will work in a high‑volume environment processing around 300 purchase orders daily across more than 17 legal entities nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately process high volumes of purchase order requests using ERP systems.
• Ensure all purchase orders comply with company policies and procurement procedures.
• Allocate costs correctly across multiple cost centres and legal entities.
• Monitor order status and provide support to internal stakeholders.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve purchasing queries promptly.
• Support Accounts Payable with invoice‑related queries and discrepancies.
• Maintain the shared procurement inbox and manage team workload.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years’ experience in a purchasing, procurement or similar administrative role for junior level; 3+ years for intermediate level.
• Strong data‑entry skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience with ERP systems and raising purchase orders is beneficial.
• Understanding of procurement procedures and cost‑centre allocations is advantageous.
• Relevant procurement or purchasing qualification (TAFE Certificate or similar) highly regarded.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in building a long‑term career in procurement and purchasing.
• Australian permanent resident or citizen status required.
