Purchasing Officer – Fixed‑Term (Parental Leave Cover)

About the role

The Royal Children’s Hospital is seeking a Purchasing Officer on a full‑time fixed‑term basis to provide parental‑leave cover until March 2027. Working within the Procurement & Supply Chain Department, you will coordinate the purchase of goods and services that support the hospital’s paediatric care, research and education missions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date product catalogues and manage end‑to‑end purchasing in line with RCH and Health Share policies.
• Develop and sustain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost‑effective deliveries and resolve invoicing issues.
• Provide training and support on the Procure‑to‑Pay system to improve procurement efficiency across the organisation.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, manage recalls, and drive continuous process improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and departments to align purchasing activities with hospital needs.

Required profile

• Several years of technical or administrative experience in a procurement or related environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑performing team.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Procure‑to‑Pay systems or similar procurement platforms.
