Protective Services Officer

About the role

Gold Coast Health is recruiting several Protective Services Officers to contribute to the safety and security of its facilities, protecting patients, staff and visitors through effective security procedures. This is a frontline support role within a 14,000-strong team serving the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales. The position is permanent and part-time, with several openings of 64 hours per fortnight.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct security patrols
• Respond to security incidents and emergencies
• Support de-escalation of challenging behaviour
• Identify and report safety and security hazards
• Assist with traffic and parking management as required

Required profile

• Evidence of vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis and hepatitis B, or ability to be vaccinated and stay vaccinated
• Tuberculosis screening; declaration of a serious discipline history must be made
• Criminal history screening required for new employees (cost covered by the employer)
• A current Queensland security licence and Certificate II or III in Security Operations is not mandatory but is well regarded
