Project Manager – Major Capital Projects

About the role

Coogee is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Major Projects team. You will be responsible for delivering large‑scale capital projects across our chemical manufacturing and bulk liquid storage operations, from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead assigned major projects ensuring scope, cost, schedule, safety, quality and governance targets are met.
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, cost forecasts, change‑control processes and risk registers.
• Manage contractors, consultants and suppliers to achieve safe and compliant project delivery.
• Identify, assess and mitigate technical, safety, environmental, schedule and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, Dangerous Goods regulations, process‑safety requirements and company standards.
• Coordinate and review engineering designs, specifications and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.
• Prepare and present progress, cost and risk reports to senior management.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of Major Projects practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (Engineers Australia accredited); Chartered status or pathway preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience delivering engineering capital projects, preferably in chemical manufacturing or tank‑terminal environments.
• Strong project‑management capability including cost control, scheduling, contractor management and governance compliance.
• Solid understanding of WHS, Dangerous Goods and process‑safety obligations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
