Project Manager – Commercial Fit‑Out & Refurbishment

About the role

Join a leading design‑and‑build contractor in Melbourne, delivering commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects ranging from $500k to $10m+. As Project Manager you will own the end‑to‑end delivery of high‑quality construction projects, from design through to handover, ensuring they meet drawings, specifications and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full delivery of fit‑out and refurbishment projects, including design, procurement, construction and practical completion.
• Negotiate and let sub‑contracts, develop tender documentation and construction methodologies.
• Develop and maintain project programmes, communicate updates to clients, consultants and internal teams.
• Identify, assess and mitigate construction risks, manage project cash‑flow, expenditure and monthly cost reporting.
• Oversee quality assurance, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
• Maintain client and stakeholder relationships, providing regular progress reports and ensuring satisfaction.
• Lead and mentor junior staff such as Assistant Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Site Managers.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects as a Project Manager for a head contractor or D&B builder.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects from design to handover.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience handling budgets, variations and claims.
• Knowledge of local council and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
