Project Manager - Client Side

About the role

A growing multi-state boutique project management consultancy is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join its team. The consultancy has a strong pipeline of projects in education, health, hospitality, hotels, aged care, office and government sectors, ranging from fit-out and refurbishment to new builds of up to $50m and sometimes $100m+. The role reports to the Project Director and involves delivering project management services to the client within agreed scope, schedule and fee budget.

Key responsibilities

• Procure design consultants, construction contractors and other specialist consultants
• Handle contracts administration and claims management
• Manage statutory approvals, design development and regulatory approvals
• Manage issues, risks and disputes
• Prepare tender submissions and develop and maintain a strong network
• Coordinate design and manage site variations and design changes
• Manage program, cost and construction management of project delivery
• Work in a live environment where buildings remain open during construction

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management or similar
• 5 to 10+ years' experience in a client-side PM role; head contractor experience is also ideal
• Proven end-to-end project management from concept to completion
• Experience of running multiple smaller projects
• Commercial fit-out experience is an advantage

Required skills

• Contract administration and exposure to contract forms such as GC21, AS4000, AS4122 and AS4902
• Program management, managing timelines and critical paths
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
