Project Engineer – Industrial Refrigeration

About the role

Johnson Controls, through Gordon Brothers Industries, is seeking experienced Project Engineers to deliver industrial refrigeration solutions across major Australian cities. The role involves full‑cycle engineering, design, procurement and on‑site delivery for projects in sectors such as mining, chemical, food and beverage.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations and cost estimates for refrigeration systems.
• Prepare tender submissions, evaluate and upgrade existing systems, and ensure compliance with Australian and international standards.
• Manage projects end‑to‑end, including procurement, coordination, budgeting and delivery.
• Conduct risk assessments, on‑site audits, FAT/SAT testing and produce client reports.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification with experience in mechanical, electrical or process design, preferably in heavy‑industry refrigeration or compression.
• Proven project‑management experience delivering complex mechanical/electrical/process projects.
• Strong time‑management, communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (and optionally SolidWorks) drafting.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project and Visio.
• Experience with FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures.
