Project Engineer – Industrial Refrigeration (Australia relocation)

About the role

Johnson Controls, in partnership with Gordon Brothers Industries, is seeking experienced Project Engineers to deliver industrial refrigeration solutions across major Australian cities. The role involves full‑cycle project delivery, from design through to commissioning, with relocation support for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations and cost estimates for refrigeration projects.
• Prepare tender submissions, manage procurement, and coordinate project delivery to meet client specifications and deadlines.
• Upgrade existing refrigeration systems and conduct on‑site audits, risk assessments and compliance checks.
• Provide drafting support using AutoCAD or SolidWorks and assist with commissioning, training and service support.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification with experience in mechanical, electrical or process design, preferably in heavy‑industry refrigeration or compression.
• Proven project‑management experience delivering complex mechanical/electrical/process projects.
• Ability to conduct FAT/SAT, interpret specifications and maintain standard documentation libraries.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (and optionally SolidWorks) drafting.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project and Visio.
• Experience with industrial refrigeration, compression equipment and rotating machinery design.
