About the role

The Department of Education, Victoria is recruiting a Project and Policy Adviser within its Early Childhood Strategy Division. The role provides project management and policy advice on complex, high-impact national legislative reforms aimed at improving child safety across the early childhood education and care sector. It sits in a supportive, collaborative team and is a fixed-term full-time position until 30 June 2027.

The Early Childhood Strategy Division is a small strategic policy unit that leads complex, high-profile early childhood policy and reform projects, focusing on greater equity and quality so that children experiencing disadvantage receive better outcomes.

Required profile

  • Experience in project management and/or policy development
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking
  • Ability to adapt under shifting priorities and timelines
  • Highly organised and a team player
  • Experience in intergovernmental relations, governance or legislative development is desirable but not required
