Project Accountant

About the role

Robert Half is recruiting a Project Accountant for a growing organisation in Melbourne CBD, Victoria. The role supports the financial management and governance of several strategic projects, partnering with Finance, IT, Operations and Product teams. It is described as a 6-12-month contract, hybrid, with a daily rate of 570-650 AUD.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report project actuals against budget across multiple concurrent projects.
• Develop and maintain project financial models and forecasting tools.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term project planning.
• Assist with preparing business cases for new project initiatives.
• Provide project financial reporting and insights to project teams and senior stakeholders.
• Manage project-related accruals and support month-end accounting processes.
• Advise on CAPEX/OPEX treatment and project accounting requirements.
• Partner with Project Managers, IT, Operations and Product teams to achieve financial objectives.
• Prepare reporting for internal leadership and external stakeholders where required.
• Support continuous improvement of project reporting, controls and financial governance.

Required profile

• CPA qualified.
• 6+ years of experience.
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across business and project teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
• Advanced Excel skills (essential).
• Understanding of month-end accounting, accruals and project financial management.
