Professor/Associate Professor of Nursing or Midwifery (Joint Appointment)

About the role

Monash University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, in partnership with Monash Health, is seeking a senior academic leader for a joint appointment as Professor or Associate Professor. The role bridges university research and clinical practice, driving innovative nursing and midwifery programmes across the Clayton campus and Monash Medical Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Lead world‑class collaborative research that informs clinical practice and improves patient safety.
• Secure external research funding from traditional and innovative sources.
• Mentor and supervise research staff and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students.
• Provide academic leadership in curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Strengthen partnerships between Monash University, Monash Health and international agencies.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification (PhD) with recognised expertise in nursing or midwifery.
• Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the NMBA.
• Outstanding scholarly record and proven ability to generate significant research income.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and managing high‑level academic‑healthcare partnerships.
• Deep familiarity with the Australian health‑care system and professional standards.
