Production Operator - Formulations (Chemical Manufacturing)

About the role

Nufarm, a global crop protection and seeds technology company, is hiring an experienced chemical/high-hazard production operator for its Production Formulation team at its Pipe Road chemical manufacturing facility in Laverton North. The role covers all aspects of the production process, including material handling, equipment operation, process monitoring, quality control, warehousing and support activities. It may involve a rotating morning/afternoon roster with regular RDOs.

Key responsibilities

• Operate chemical plants efficiently according to schedules and cycle times
• Follow standard operating procedures as instructed
• Complete batch sheets accurately and to agreed standard
• Maintain good workplace organisation and housekeeping
• Follow all safety regulations and wear the required PPE
• Report safety incidents or hazards immediately
• Carry out QA functions so batches meet quality specifications
• Wash out vessels and equipment to specified standards to minimise cross-contamination risk
• Propose improvements to productivity, safety and quality

Required profile

• Previous experience operating in a chemical manufacturing or high-hazard environment, indoors and outdoors
• Safety-minded, able to identify hazards and risks in a high-risk environment
• Comfortable working both independently and in a close team
• Interest in further training and development
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards and procedures
• Ability to use computers and basic workplace systems, and to record information accurately
• Excellent communication skills with contractors and internal teams
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Physically capable of manual handling with safe lifting techniques
