Production Manager

About the role

The Production Manager supports the Head of Production in planning, coordinating and delivering shows, events, installations and functions for the Festival. This role ensures smooth execution of all technical and logistical aspects across multiple venues.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with programming to scope upcoming festival events.
• Manage Project Managers and Event Coordinators as directed.
• Create and adjust event production schedules.
• Prepare Vectorworks plans and event management documentation.
• Coordinate with venues on operations, logistics, technical elements and crowd management.
• Develop event manuals, risk management and evacuation plans.
• Oversee event budgets, reconcile invoices and ensure all expenditures follow the Sydney Festival order system.
• Attend meetings, site visits and work flexible hours for overseas partners.
• Supervise contractors, crews, transport and on‑site set‑up/break‑down.
• Maintain accurate event files and ensure equipment return and debt settlement.
• Report budget, quality or safety changes to the Head of Production and complete post‑festival debriefs.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in live theatre or live event production.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time‑management skills.
• Outstanding written and oral communication abilities.
• Proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking capabilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Vectorworks for event planning.
