Product Designer (Mid Level, Hybrid Contract)

About the role

UntilNow is looking for a mid-level Product Designer for a contract position in Sydney with a hybrid setup, combining in-office presence with work-from-home flexibility. The studio's design is AI augmented and outcome driven: you will use AI tools naturally across problem framing, research synthesis, prototyping and iteration, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver product solutions for startups and scaleups.

Key responsibilities

• Own product design end to end, partnering with strategists, developers and clients to define problems, explore solutions, validate concepts and ship designs.
• Use AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to draft flows, surface edge cases, synthesise research and explore solution spaces before moving into Figma.
• Conduct and synthesise user research to inform design decisions.
• Prototype quickly with Figma, AI-assisted code tools and lightweight testing, then translate validated concepts into Figma with full state coverage, design system alignment and developer handoff.
• Share prompts, patterns, templates and learnings with the team, and collaborate with developers through builds, launches and iterations.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience as a product designer on complex, systems-heavy products; B2B, SaaS or fintech experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, Interaction Design, HCI or a related field preferred.
• Authorised to work in Australia.
• Nice to have: comfort with basic front-end concepts, design systems, customer interviews and usability tests, and AI-first product patterns.

Required skills

• Visual design, interaction design and user-friendly interfaces.
• Active use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor or similar).
• Figma as the primary design tool.
• User research and UX research, and design thinking.
• Agile collaboration, strong communication and presentation skills.
