Process Engineer - Alkimos Desalination Plant

About the role

ACCIONA is supporting the commissioning, start-up, performance testing and initial operation of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth, a $2.8 billion project built in alliance with Water Corporation and Jacobs. Stage 1 will produce 150 million litres of drinking water a day, combining seawater desalination with on-site groundwater treatment. The role works across control room monitoring and field-based troubleshooting, coordinating with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and operations teams, and suits someone wanting to build technical, operational and leadership capability on a large-scale water infrastructure project.

Key responsibilities

• Develop working knowledge of assigned process systems and control logic
• Support safe execution of commissioning activities to specification and procedure
• Collaborate with operators, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams
• Conduct system walkdowns, punch listing and completion verification
• Support loop checks, sequence testing and cause-and-effect matrix testing
• Review process trends and data to inform commissioning decisions
• Apply HSSE systems including PTW, LOTO and risk assessments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemical, Process or Instrumentation & Control
• Experience commissioning or operating water treatment or desalination plants
• Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies
• Willingness to be fully site-based during the commissioning phase

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SCADA or DCS control systems
• Reading PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies
