Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Education & Research)

About the role

The University of Queensland is recruiting a Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Education and Research) for a full-time, five-year contract based at the St Lucia campus. The position sits within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) and is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld); it is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

The PVC works closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) to shape whole-of-university priorities, guide major initiatives such as the Indigenous Curriculum framework and contribute to senior governance forums. The role calls for collaborative leadership, cultural integrity and the ability to influence a complex academic environment through relationships.

Required profile

• An accomplished Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic leader with professorial-level standing.
• Recognised for strong community trust, cultural authority and a demonstrated record of impact across Indigenous education, research and engagement.
• Experience contributing to curriculum, research or governance in a university setting.
• Ability to influence change across a complex organisation through relationships, collaboration and cultural authority.
• Credibility representing Indigenous priorities across senior committees, faculties and external partners.
