About the role

The University of Queensland is seeking a Professor and Head of School for the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB), based at the St Lucia campus. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment of five years with an underlying continuing Teaching and Research appointment at Academic Level E, reporting to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Science. The role leads one of Australia's most respected centres for education and discovery across the chemical, molecular and biological sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership that advances the School's strategic direction and strengthens its global reputation
• Lead research, teaching, engagement and impact, working with colleagues, students, industry partners, government stakeholders and global collaborators
• Foster an inclusive, innovative and supportive culture that empowers established and emerging leaders
• Manage the School's finances, operations and human resources

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent qualification
• Strong record of teaching, research, publications, competitive grant success and higher degree by research supervision
• International reputation for excellence in one or more disciplines represented in the School
• Demonstrated success leading large and complex academic environments
• Experience building relationships across industry, government and the wider community
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
