Printer / Press Operator – Heidelberg Presses

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Printer / Press Operator to join our Melbourne team. You will run advanced 6‑ and 8‑colour Heidelberg XL presses with Cutstar reel‑fed units in a permanent, full‑time position that operates on a compressed 3‑day week (36 hours).

Key responsibilities

• Operate Heidelberg XL printing presses and die‑cutters.
• Interpret job tickets and production requirements.
• Perform colour checks and print‑quality inspections.
• Execute changeovers efficiently, minimizing downtime and waste.
• Troubleshoot and resolve printing or mechanical issues.
• Lead and support printer assistants on the press.
• Collaborate with pre‑press and finishing teams.
• Capture production data and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified printer or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience operating multi‑colour Heidelberg presses (Cutstar experience highly regarded).
• Strong understanding of colour management and print‑quality standards.
• Ability to read and use colour measurement devices.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
• Mechanically minded with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Physically fit and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team player with good communication and organisational skills.
