Principal Regional Customer Engagement

About the role

As the Principal Regional Customer Engagement you will be the primary interface for major customers connecting to Western Power’s transmission network, guiding them through the Clean Energy Link (CEL) process and supporting WA’s energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Build deep, trusted relationships with large renewable generators and industrial loads, acting as the key point of contact for CEL connections.
• Implement and embed CEL customer processes while partnering with internal stakeholders.
• Influence network strategy and investment decisions by translating customer insights into transmission planning and CEL sequencing.
• Manage risk, governance and decision quality through evidence‑based recommendations, escalation and disciplined reporting.
• Engage senior government and industry stakeholders to align planning, policy and decarbonisation outcomes.
• Communicate progress across and outside the organisation, facilitating regional planning updates for senior government stakeholders.
• Strengthen Western Power’s reputation and social licence through credible engagement with customers, regulators and industry bodies.
• Model collaborative, inclusive ways of working that support a high‑performing, customer‑focused culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Communications, Business, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in a senior customer‑facing, commercial, planning or project delivery role, preferably within energy, infrastructure or utilities.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to work with senior internal, executive and external stakeholders.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical information.
