Principal Financial Accountant

About the role

A Queensland government organisation based in the Brisbane CBD is looking for a Principal Financial Accountant through Randstad on a temporary contract until 26 March 2027, with possible extension. The position is full-time, pays $88.48 per hour plus super, and offers hybrid working flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial ledger operations and month-end processing, ensuring accuracy across all accounting activities
• Plan, prepare and deliver annual financial statements and act as main contact with internal and external auditors
• Oversee non-current assets from register to valuation, stocktakes, impairment and useful-life reviews, including external providers
• Develop and evaluate financial strategies, internal controls and policies to meet statutory compliance and government alignment
• Advise stakeholders and lead management projects, and provide ad-hoc reporting to senior management
• Lead and develop teams, run training programs and maintain quality systems

Required profile

• Degree in accountancy or commerce, or CPA/CA qualification
• High-level leadership skills in fostering procedures and change in a rapidly changing environment

Required skills

• Proven knowledge and experience with the SAP system
