Intermediate Management Accountant

About the role

A growing fractional CFO and financial advisory firm serving small and medium businesses across Australia is hiring an Intermediate Management Accountant in Brisbane. The role delivers day-to-day management accounting and commercial advisory support to clients while working closely with the Founder to help build the business. It can start part-time or full-time, with a pathway to a permanent full-time leadership position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and client Board reporting packs
• Carry out financial performance analysis, budget versus actual reporting and financial statement analysis
• Manage month-end and year-end processes and KPI reporting
• Support the Fractional CFO team with cash flow forecasting, financial modelling, scenario analysis and budget preparation
• Help clients with funding applications, capital raising, M&A, due diligence and R&D reporting
• Use AI tools to improve the speed, quality and insight of reporting, analysis and modelling
• Support local and offshore teammates and coordinate workflows across teams
• Occasionally assist with client proposals and business development

Required profile

• Degree in accounting, finance or commerce
• At least 5 years' relevant accounting or management accounting experience
• CA or CPA qualification, or working towards it (highly regarded)
• Interest in using AI in your career and client delivery, with current use of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines

Required skills

• Cloud accounting platforms such as Xero (highly regarded)
• Financial modelling and cash flow forecasting
