Principal Electrical Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Water team in Melbourne, supporting major water and wastewater treatment projects across Australia. You will lead the design and delivery of low‑voltage (LV) electrical systems, mentoring junior engineers and interfacing directly with clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design LV electrical systems including schematics, equipment layout, lighting, motor control centres, and communications.
• Develop and integrate SCADA, instrumentation, and PLC solutions for water treatment facilities.
• Lead project phases from strategic planning through construction, ensuring designs meet budget and program requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and construction partners.

Required profile

• Accredited Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related qualification.
• Extensive experience in complex plant/industrial environments, preferably water or industrial plant projects.
• Proven track record in design, technical writing, and delivering projects on scope, budget, and schedule.

Required skills

• Low‑voltage electrical system design.
• SCADA, instrumentation and PLC programming.
• Motor control centre and lighting design.
• Knowledge of industry standards for electrical design.
