Principal Designer – Civil Structural Design

About the role

KBR is seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Structural Designer to join the Suburban Rail Loop East Alliance in Melbourne. This permanent position will contribute to the design of rail infrastructure, tunnels, stations and associated civil works.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and drafting activities within a multidisciplinary team to deliver structural engineering services for rail and infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with digital engineering, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and civil designers to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Coach and mentor junior designers, fostering a collaborative environment.

Required profile

• Qualification in drafting or engineering technology with experience on infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication skills and a creative, detail‑focused approach.
• Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment and stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Bentley software suite, especially OpenBuildings Designer.
• Knowledge of civil and structural design principles for rail projects.
