About the role
Airwallex is building an AI‑native financial operating system and seeks a Principal AI Engineer to lead the creation of intelligent solutions for its Business Accounts platform. Based in Sydney, you will define the technical vision, shape architecture, and drive AI‑powered automation across payments, lending, and cash management.
Key responsibilities
- Spearhead design and delivery of AI solutions that improve internal efficiency and customer experience.
- Design robust APIs and system architecture for new AI applications, ensuring scalability and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate existing AI technologies and research new models.
- Provide rapid resolutions for application issues, maintaining high client satisfaction.
Required profile
- 10+ years of backend software development experience with a strong focus on AI and language technologies.
- Proven track record of delivering high‑impact, large‑scale distributed systems.
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Required skills
- Python
- TypeScript or JavaScript
- Experience with vector databases
- Design and development of high‑concurrency, high‑load systems
