Primary Health Care Pilot - Roma

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is recruiting a Primary Health Care (PHC) Pilot for its Roma Base. The pilot transports obstetrician and gynaecological health care services to regional and outback Queensland communities. It is a permanent, full-time position working 14 shifts per month, based in Roma.

Key responsibilities

• Operate RFDS aircraft safely and in line with company procedures and aviation regulations
• Prepare aircraft for flight, including refuelling and replenishing oxygen supplies
• Complete operational and regulatory documentation
• Maintain operational knowledge, systems and base records
• Contribute to a strong safety and teamwork culture

Required profile

• Current Instrument Rating for multi-engine aircraft with four renewals
• Current Australian ATPL/CPL and class 1 medical
• 2,500 hours total flying time, 1,000 hours as pilot on multi-engine aircraft
• 100 hours as pilot-in-command at night and 200 hours of instrument time
• 50 hours on type or similar aircraft
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

Required skills

• Strong situational awareness and decision-making
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Current unrestricted Queensland driver's licence (needed for the Blue Card)
