Primary Classroom Teacher

About the role

Ivanhoe Grammar School, a co-educational independent school, is seeking a Primary Classroom Teacher for its Plenty Campus. The teacher is a member of the Academic Staff, reporting to the Head of Primary and working closely with colleagues across year levels and subjects. The position is full time (1.0 FTE), fixed term, starting in January 2027 and ending in December 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver purposeful, research-informed learning using the school's Instructional Model (Warm Up, New Learning, Dive In, Reflect).
• Embed universal practices such as clear learning intentions, formative assessment and student goal setting.
• Create calm, inclusive classrooms that support curiosity, collaboration and high expectations.
• Monitor and support student learning and wellbeing using data, feedback and professional judgement.
• Contribute to house life, co-curricular programs and wider campus initiatives.
• Take part in coaching, collaborative planning and shared learning to grow team capacity.

Required profile

• A relevant teaching qualification, ideally complemented by postgraduate study in Education, Curriculum or Pedagogy.
• Valid VIT registration and a strong commitment to child safety and inclusive practice.
• Experience teaching in a school context, with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solutions-focused mindset, high professional standards and a commitment to character education.
