Pre-Sales Technical Specialist

About the role

Compass Education, a global school management platform provider, is hiring a Pre-Sales Technical Specialist for its Sales team in Sydney. You will be the technical expert behind the Inklass and Griddle sales team, joining sales calls, answering prospects' technical questions and helping schools across Australia adopt the products confidently. The role suits someone from a school IT team who wants to move into the tech sector, and does not require a sales background.

Key responsibilities

• Sit in on sales calls and meetings led by Account Executives, answering technical questions about integrations, data flows, SSO, hosting and security.
• Answer technical questions from prospects and school IT teams by email and call within agreed response times.
• Support the sales team as the go-to person for technical answers and help them understand how the products work.
• Set up and support trial accounts, configure trials, connect them to school systems and fix issues so trials run smoothly.
• Complete security and IT questionnaires, including school IT, privacy and security assessments, working with Product and Engineering on new features.
• Build deep knowledge of how Inklass and Griddle integrate with SIS, LMS, identity and partner platforms.
• Help upskill the sales team through FAQs, short guides and training sessions.
• Attend occasional conferences and industry events, and hand over technical requirements and trial details to the Onboarding team.

Required profile

• 2+ years in an IT, systems or technical support role, ideally in a K-12 school, school system or government education setting.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to IT departments and non-technical staff such as Principals and Business Managers.
• Confidence to engage with prospects in sales meetings while the Account Executive leads the conversation.
• Strong written communication, good judgement, a team-first approach and curiosity about new products.
• Valid Working with Children Check, satisfactory National Police Check and proof of unrestricted work rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of software and IT systems, including APIs, integrations, data syncing and cloud platforms.
• Working knowledge of identity and access solutions.
• Experience with EdTech platforms such as SIS and LMS (e.g. Compass, SchoolBox, Synergetic, TASS), data syncs and security assessments such as ST4S.
• Familiarity with a CRM such as HubSpot is an advantage.
