Port Operator - 14/14 Days and Nights FIFO

About the role

Hancock Iron Ore is looking for a Port & Rail Operator to join its Port Hedland team on a 14 on, 14 off roster covering days and nights. Reporting to the Supervisor Port Production, you will help receive, stockpile, screen and load ore onto ships for export, working closely with other port operators and the Perth-based Remote Operations Centre. The role suits someone who enjoys being out in the field and solving practical problems.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect allocated operational areas, including conveyors, chutes, transfer points, stackers, reclaimers, car dumper, screenhouse and wharf areas
• Monitor equipment condition and report defects, hazards and abnormal conditions promptly
• Support safe and efficient inloading, stockyard and outloading activities
• Respond to operational alarms, stoppages and production issues as directed
• Carry out SAP inspections, raise notifications where required and complete accurate handovers
• Follow procedures, work instructions, risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Take part in pre-starts, PSIs, safety interactions and hazard reporting, and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• WA manual driver's licence
• Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC), or willingness to obtain one
• Experience in a similar port operations role, such as ship berthing, departures, ship loader, stacker, reclaimer or car dumper operations
• Trade qualification and machinery licences desirable
• Must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia
