Podiatrist - Melbourne, Wodonga FIFO & Gippsland
Proactive Health · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
Proactive Health, a network of over 40 independent allied health businesses, is recruiting a podiatrist based in Melbourne who will also fly in to service an established Wodonga patient base and help set up a new podiatry service in Sale and the surrounding Gippsland towns. The role combines clinic-based practice, mobile home visits, a regular FIFO rotation to Wodonga and a greenfield build in Gippsland.
Key responsibilities
- Clinic-based podiatry across Melbourne metropolitan sites, covering biomechanical assessment, orthotic prescription, nail surgery, diabetic foot management, wound care and general podiatry.
- Home and community care across Melbourne, including diabetic foot assessment, wound care, vascular and neurological screening, nail management, footwear assessment and education.
- A regular FIFO rotation to Wodonga, with travel and accommodation covered; the split between Melbourne, Wodonga and Gippsland is agreed with you.
- Establish a new podiatry service in Sale and Gippsland, building GP, aged care and community referral relationships from the ground up.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team with physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers and GPs.
- Maintain clinical documentation aligned with governance standards and DVA compliance, escalate risks and coordinate with external providers such as GPs, vascular surgeons and endocrinologists.
- Educate patients and families on foot health, self-management and falls prevention.
Required profile
- AHPRA registration as a podiatrist (or eligibility for registration).
- Recognised tertiary qualification in podiatry.
- Current professional indemnity insurance or willingness to obtain it.
- Valid Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel, including a regular FIFO rotation to Wodonga and regular work in Gippsland.
- Current or willingness to obtain a National Police check and relevant state screening.
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment and communication skills, and comfort working independently in a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Comfort with digital clinical systems for documentation and remote collaboration.
- Highly regarded but not essential: experience building a new service, DVA client work, home or rural podiatry, multiple funding streams (NDIS, Medicare, Home Care, Workers' Compensation) and nail surgery competency.
What we offer
- Competitive salary discussed at interview, above market rate.
- Flights and accommodation for Wodonga, plus fuel allowance, kilometre reimbursement or company vehicle for mobile and regional work.
- Mentorship from the national podiatry team, access to the Proactive Health Academy and structured graduate or leadership programs.
- Clear career pathways to senior clinician, team lead, management or clinic ownership.
- Staff rewards program and wellbeing centre access.
