Plumber - Defence Property and Asset Services

About the role

Service Stream is hiring multiple plumbers for its Defence division, supporting the delivery of Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory under the PAS contract. This is a permanent full-time position based at key sites in the Northern Territory, including Larrakeyah Barracks.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, fittings, pipework systems and related infrastructure across Defence buildings and structures.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair plumbing issues, and install, maintain and repair fixtures such as sinks, toilets and water heaters.
• Ensure all work complies with current legislation and regulatory standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks on plumbing systems and pipework.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors on repairs and installations.
• Maintain accurate records of work, materials used and time spent.
• Respond promptly to emergency plumbing situations.
• Advise on the selection of materials and equipment, give technical support to junior staff and apprentices, and take part in ongoing training.
• Identify areas for process improvement and work with teams to implement best practices.

Required profile

• Experience in plumbing maintenance and repair work; experience in large infrastructure environments is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Minimum of a Certificate III in Plumbing or equivalent, and a valid Plumbing & Drainage Occupational Licence.
• Licence endorsements for backflow prevention, heat pump water systems, on-site sewerage facility maintenance, solar water systems and thermostatic mixing valves.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
