Plumber - Defence Property and Asset Services

About the role

Service Stream's Defence division is looking for qualified plumbers to support the Property and Asset Services contract for the Australian Department of Defence, covering South Australia and the Northern Territory. This is a permanent full-time position based at RAAF Darwin and surrounding bases, on a long-term initial 6-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, fittings, pipework systems and related infrastructure across Defence buildings and structures.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair plumbing issues in Defence buildings and infrastructure.
• Install, maintain and repair fixtures such as sinks, toilets and water heaters.
• Ensure all work complies with current legislation and regulatory standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance checks on plumbing systems and pipework.
• Work with other maintenance staff and contractors on repairs and installations.
• Maintain accurate records of work, materials used and time spent.
• Advise on the selection of materials and equipment, and provide technical support to junior staff and apprentices.
• Identify areas for process improvement and help implement best practices.

Required profile

• Experience in plumbing maintenance and repair work.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Minimum Certificate III in Plumbing or equivalent, and a valid Plumbing & Drainage Occupational Licence.
• Licence endorsements for backflow prevention, heat pump water systems, on-site sewerage facilities, solar water systems and thermostatic mixing valves are highly desirable.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
