Plant Operator

About the role

As a Plant Operator at Nyrstar’s Port Pirie facility you will join a team that transforms raw ore into high‑quality zinc and lead products. Working on a 12‑hour shift roster you will spend your days operating and maintaining plant equipment while adhering to strict safety and production standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, cranes and other material‑handling equipment in designated plant areas.
• Monitor and control production processes to ensure efficient metal extraction.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance and minor repairs on plant machinery.
• Follow confined‑space and working‑at‑heights procedures when required.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet daily production targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in heavy industry, construction or similar labour‑intensive roles.
• Physically fit and able to pass a pre‑employment medical examination.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Forklift operation licence.
• Bridge & Gantry operation licence.
• Crane operation experience.
• Confined Space certification.
• Working at Heights certification.
