Pet Therapy Volunteer - Dog Visits to Aged Care Residents

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for pet therapy volunteers in Wahroonga. You bring your calm, gentle dog to spend time with aged care residents, creating moments of comfort, connection and happiness. Visits are one hour or longer, on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Key responsibilities

• Bring your dog to residential aged care residents in Wahroonga and share smiles and cuddles.
• Keep the dog calm, gentle and confident around frail older people, including those living with dementia.
• Follow the pet safety rules: keep the dog on a lead, ensure nails are short and blunt, and keep vaccinations, worm and flea treatment up to date.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• An NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Your dog must be over 12 months old, up to date with vaccinations and worm and flea treatment, with short, blunt nails.
• Availability between 9am-12pm or 1pm-5pm, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
