Permanent Remote Area Nurse – Acute & Chronic Care

About the role

Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking experienced Remote Area Nurses to provide acute and chronic care across remote communities in East Arnhem Land. This permanent position offers the choice of a Fly‑In Fly‑Out (FIFO) arrangement or a permanent community‑based role, allowing you to combine professional practice with cultural immersion.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to patients in remote clinics.
• Lead health education and prevention programs focused on chronic disease, child health, and rheumatic heart disease.
• Support vaccination drives and other community health initiatives.
• Mentor Aboriginal Health Practitioners and nursing students.
• Collaborate with Indigenous leaders and traditional healers to ensure culturally appropriate care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in acute care and chronic disease management.
• Demonstrated compassion and ability to work independently in remote settings.
• Willingness to engage with Yolŋu communities and respect cultural practices.
• Flexibility to adapt to FIFO or community‑based work arrangements.
