People & Culture Manager

About the role

A growing, values-driven engineering consultancy of around 150 people, active in urban development, commercial, infrastructure and built-environment projects, is looking for a People & Culture Manager in Sydney. The role leads the people and culture function, coaches leaders and strengthens people foundations, working closely with senior leaders. It is a full-time, on-site position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, probation, performance frameworks and employment changes, with consistent, compliant and high-quality processes
• Strengthen documentation, systems and ways of working, and give leaders practical, commercially minded advice
• Drive engagement and wellbeing, inclusion, culture and values programs, and contribute to safety, wellbeing and internal committees
• Improve Employment Hero usage, support organisational growth and integration of new teams, and explore digital tools and AI to improve efficiency
• Lead senior and specialist recruitment and oversee advisor-led recruitment for junior roles, strengthening recruitment frameworks and onboarding

Required profile

• Strong generalist HR experience in a busy, operational environment
• Warm, approachable style with commercial judgement
• Confidence in coaching managers and navigating performance matters
• Ability to interpret awards and give clear guidance
• Curiosity about learning and development, engagement and culture building
• Maturity, resilience and strong influencing skills

Required skills

• Experience with Employment Hero is highly regarded

• Hybrid arrangement: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home
• Street parking available, close to Metro and local amenities
• Primary base in North West Sydney, with the option to work in the Sydney CBD or Wollongong offices (included in the 3 office days)
