People & Culture Advisor - Rail Operations

About the role

Transport for NSW is recruiting a People & Culture Advisor for its P&C Business Partnering team, which supports the Rail Operations branch of Sydney Trains. The team works with a workforce of around 900 employees and sits alongside other People & Culture professionals who support Senior P&C Managers and Senior Leaders. The role follows a hybrid arrangement: onsite in Alexandria (Rail Operations Centre) on Wednesdays and Haymarket on Thursdays, with flexibility on the rest of the days.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the business to support case management and grievance resolution in a highly industrialised environment
• Respond to business requests such as policy and procedure enquiries and talent-related matters
• Contribute to the delivery of the People Plan and support broader P&C initiatives across the business

Required profile

• Experience in an operational, highly industrialised environment
• Strong experience in case management, including complex employee relations matters and grievance resolution
• Experience in a unionised environment
• Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
• Proactive approach, anticipating needs and responding effectively

Required skills

• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and interpret HR policies and procedures
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence and guide conversations
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder collaboration skills

The advertised salary range is $124,810 to $139,787 per year. Applications close on 4 November 2026.
