Pen Rider - Caroona Feedlot

About the role

JBS Australia's Caroona Feedlot, on the Liverpool Plains of NSW, is looking for Pen Riders and Livestock Handlers. The role covers daily livestock handling, animal health checks and treatment administration, and record keeping, on a full-time basis with an 8-on / 6-off roster.

Key responsibilities

• Handle livestock daily, including pen riding and stock movements
• Diagnose animal health symptoms and administer appropriate treatments
• Maintain accurate records of animal treatments and stock movements
• Comply with JBS Australia's policies on Work Health and Safety, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Animal Welfare and Environmental obligations

Required profile

• Proven horsemanship skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Commitment to animal welfare, health and nutrition
• Ability to work well within a team

To receive the horse allowance, candidates must have access to at least two suitable horses and own tack and saddlery including horse transport; horses must be vaccinated against Hendra virus before starting work.
