Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker – Goulburn

About the role

Flourish Australia, a community mental health organisation, is looking for a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker to join its Goulburn team. This is a casual, Goulburn-based position on a rotating roster Monday to Friday, paid at Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018) at $40.49-$43.42 per hour plus super and casual loading. Peer Worker roles are for people willing to draw on their personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery; it is not required for Mental Health Workers.

Key responsibilities

• Hold recovery and social citizenship conversations with service users to connect with them, support them and build trust and reciprocity.
• Guide and support each person in their recovery, keeping them the lead in their own journey and focusing on strengths, abilities and possibilities.
• Help reduce stigma and discrimination around lived experience of mental health challenges.
• Support people to access activities and opportunities that promote independence.
• Support skill development through self-directed learning, information, training and education.

Required profile

• Certificate IV or above in a relevant field, or at least 2 years full-time experience in human services (as recognised by Flourish Australia).
• Personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery (Peer Worker only).
• Alignment to Flourish Australia's values and a commitment to recovery-based practice.
• Current Australian driver's licence; private vehicle use may be required and a travelling transport allowance applies.

Required skills

• Understanding of the challenges faced by people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
• Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
