Payroll Manager

About the role

Busy Bees, a global early learning provider with over 130 centres and around 3,000 employees, is seeking an experienced and collaborative Payroll Manager to lead its national payroll function. The role is hybrid, based at the National Support Centre in Nundah, on a full-time, permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll function for a national workforce of about 3,000 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Lead, mentor and develop the payroll team, providing guidance, support and accountability.
• Oversee payroll compliance, including Modern Award and EBA interpretation, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Superannuation Guarantee and Workers Compensation obligations.
• Review and approve payroll payments, manage complex payroll matters and run quality control audits to keep payroll accurate.
• Manage external audit queries and drive process and system improvements.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and support the ongoing efficiency of the payroll function.

Required profile

• Genuine commitment to child safety and wellbeing, aligned to the Busy Bee values.
• Significant experience leading a complex, high-volume payroll function, ideally in a large or multi-site organisation.
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing a payroll team, with a hands-on, collaborative leadership style.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Award interpretation, Enterprise Agreements and employment conditions.
• Strong systems capability across payroll technology, with a passion for automation, integration and process improvement.
