Patient Services Assistant

About the role

Werribee Mercy Hospital, a public hospital in the western suburbs of Melbourne, is seeking a qualified and experienced Patient Services Assistant to join its Food & Environmental Department management team. The role is full-time (38 hours per week) on a Monday to Sunday roster, and sits within the context of a major Emergency Department expansion scheduled for 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure Victorian Public Health cleaning standards are met
• Ensure food safety standards are met
• Supervise and train staff to achieve appropriate standards

Required profile

• Health Services Assistant Certificate III, or equivalent, or working towards
• Current Food Handling Certificate
• Experience in a hospital, hotel or cleaning sector (desirable)
• Commitment to policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Ability to supervise and train staff

Candidates must provide evidence of, or be in the process of obtaining, a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, and proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
