Pathology Billing Team Leader

About the role

The Pathology Billing Team Leader oversees end-to-end billing operations, drives team performance and ensures accurate, timely revenue processes. The role is full-time and fixed term until October 2027, based in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The team sits within the Pathology Management section and handles all invoicing, payment receipts and debt recovery for pathology testing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and manage specialised billing enquiries and processes
• Generate, review and distribute key weekly and monthly reports
• Oversee monthly close processes
• Coordinate team workflows, distribute debt collection tasks, monitor performance metrics and run weekly team meetings
• Drive continuous process improvement
• Take a lead role in implementing a new billing system (PBRC), from workshop participation through to user acceptance testing

Required profile

• Proven experience in medical billing, practice management or medical administration
• Strong understanding of Medicare and private health fund billing processes
• Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
