About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for pastoral care volunteers in the Northern Illawarra area. Volunteers support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their homes, working alongside the HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator. The role is part of a wider group of volunteers who help improve the quality of life of clients and reduce isolation.
Key responsibilities
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
- Nurture spiritual development
- Offer a listening ear and a prayerful presence to people who need comfort, hope and companionship
- Supplement and complement the work of the Pastoral Care Coordinator under their direction
Required profile
- Aged 18 or older
- Willingness to commit one hour per week for 6 months or longer, between Monday and Friday, 9am-4pm
- A national volunteer police check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
