Pastoral Care Volunteer - Hammond At Home

About the role

HammondCare is looking for pastoral care volunteers to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their homes in the Southern Illawarra area. Volunteers work alongside the HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator and complement their work by offering comfort, presence and hope to people who need it most. The role is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development
• Offer a listening ear and a prayerful heart to people who want to be heard
• Supplement and complement the work of the Pastoral Care Coordinator, working under their direction

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older
• Willingness to commit one hour per week for 6 months or longer; a suitable time between Monday and Friday, 9am-4pm can be discussed
• A national volunteer police check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare
